Loved Just Because

It's almost Valentine's Day!  The love month.  Have you ever wondered what it is about you that make your friends and family like you, even love you? What is it that inspires affection in those around you? You may be admired for your charming sense of humor, your thoughtfulness, maybe for you razor sharp intellect, or maybe just for your "cool factor". God's love doesn't work that way though. He loves you because the very essence and character of God is love.

Take a marriage, for example, a husband may truly love his wife, and a wife may truly love her husband, but in their love for each other they both are expecting to receive something in return. But God's love is not that way. His love is completely unselfish.  Wow!!

The difference between God's love and our imperfect human love is that He loves you even when you don't feel love worthy or are, in fact, unlove worthy.  He loves you even when others are too distracted or too involved in what they're doing to even think about you. He loves you when friends abandon you, or the people you look up to let you down. God does not ride the bumpy waves of popular opinion. He loves no matter what, and His love is an "always and forever" kind of love. So if you're one of those people that says God could never love me like that, or that you'er not good enough for His love, just remember.... God doesn't love you because of your goodness...but because of His.
