LBS: Joy part 2 "For He's the Jolly Good Fellow" The Joy of the Lord"

The song,  "For He's the Jolly Good Fellow", is the second most popular song in the English language according to the Guinness Book of World Records. Singing this song to someone is a way to applaud and cheer them for some achievement or at an event  in their honor. And, although this is not a praise song that we sing at church, Jesus Christ is truly the most jolly and good. (Ps. 45: 6-7)

Another song you may be familiar with is the one taken from Nehemiah 8:10 which states, "The joy of the Lord is my strength
. To fully understand this let's go back to Nehemiah's day. The children of Israel had returned from their 70 years of captivity in Babylon, they had rebuilt the temple and renewed their worship to god. But, almost 100 years after they had returned to Jerusalem, the walls around the city were still in ruins leaving the people in Jerusalem vulnerable to constant attack from their enemies/ So Nehemiah arrives in Jerusalem with one mission, to inspire the people to rebuild the walls and re-hang the gates. This task was completed in 52 days! Now the people were standing at the Water gate and listening to Ezra read the Law of god. It was like w week-long Bible conference.  When the people heard the words of the Law, they began to weep because they realized how far they had  strayed from the principles and precepts the Lord had set forth in His Word. They understood how much they had messed up, how many flaws they had, and how they had wandered from the safety of the Lord's protective boundaries. (Prov. 10:29) They had built  up the wall of Jerusalem as a protection from external enemies. But they realized the even though they might be physically protected as a city, they still did not have the spiritual safety their individual souls needed.

So the people wept and mourned and had a heavy heart. Then Nehemiah, which means Jehovah comforts, and Ezra, which means help, told the people not to weep because the joy of the Lord is their strength. (Neh 8:10-12)
