Embracing Strength part 10

Embracing Strength
Part 10
The Lord gives strength to his people. Psalm 29:11

At some point during our crucial growing-up years, all of us have looked in the mirror and bot liked what we saw. Maybe it was a painfully shy girl who didn't get asked to the prom. Or the peppy cheerleader who no one took seriously. Or the bookworm who would rather study than socialize. Or the tomboy who didn't seem to fit in anywhere.

Too often we carry these old insecurities and fears into our adult lives as well distorting the truth about who we are and what we were created to be.  It takes time ---along with a lot of prayer, encouragement, and a big does of courage---to be able to look past those insecurities and fears and to learn to celebrate how god has made each of us. Before we can embrace the strength an courage God offers us, we must get rid of our old perceptions and see what Scripture has to tell us about who we are in God's eyes.

1. What does Romans 8:15-17 tell you about who you are in God's eyes? " For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry Abba father. The spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. Now if we are children then we are heirs --heirs of God and co - heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory."

2. Because God recognized us as His children, and the Holy Ghost dwells in us as believers, we are gifted with all of the fruits of the Spirit described in Galatians ....find out more at our next LBS.
