Fresh Fire

Ice Breaker: Come up with as many benefits for fire as you possible can.

“Keeping the Fire Burning”
different thoughts are prompted by the word Fire from person to person. For example, some might think of the destructive power of fire as in a house fire, others may think of the benefits of fire such as for cooking and heating, the world would be a miserable place without fire. In fact, survival would be very difficult.

In both the natural and spiritual realms, fire has many uses, first, fire is a purifier. Surgical instruments are sterilized in great heat. (Jer 23:29, Zech 13:9a). Spiritually, God’s word is the fire that purifies us .

Second, fire represents God’s presence and it demonstrates His power and magnificent attributes. (Ps97:3 & 5). God’s presence was manifested as a burning bush to Moses. The travelers hearts burned within them as they walked with Jesus and did not recognize it was He.

Third, fire is used to test the contents of matter. (1 Cor 3:13-14). Fire will test the quality of our deeds. As it has been said, “Only what’s done for Christ will last.”

Fourth, when a storm turns off the lights, people use candles to light their way. (Ps 119:105). But God has provided spiritual light for us to show us how to live and be happy.

Finally, John the Baptist said that Jesus would baptize his followers with the Holy Ghost and with Fire (Jer 20:9b). This fire is a great zeal to do something for God. But unless we keep them alive, fires always die out by themselves. This requires us to tend to them frequently to keep them burning. And when new fuel is added, we’ll see hot sparks flashing and new flames beginning to stir. We’ll feel the heat of “fresh fire.”

God’s Holy Ghost fire has been spreading all over the world. And God has provided us with many means that allow us to fan that fire.
Let’s keep the fie burning.
