                                                          A Living Hope Part 1

Read all of 1 Peter every week. 

But, for now we will focus on 1:1-12.

1.What do you think Peter wants to communicate in these first 12 verses? Based on what you know from the introductory material, how do his opening lines speak directly to the needs of the people to whom he writes?

One example is done for you. Remember answers may very. It will be really hard to write an answer that is completely wrong. Write as many as you want. 

• He knows that they are living through tough times.  

2. Write the definition for elect (adj)

    Write the definition for sanctification (also see sanctify)

3.What is our living hope(1:4)? An ________that is ___________, ___________and ________.

Rewrite verses 6 through 7 in your own words. (we will share these next week)

4.Look at 1:10-12. In this passage, what do we learn about the prophets of the Old Testament? Specifically, what do we learn about:

*The content and purpose of their prophecies?

*Their method of seeking truth?

*Their understanding of the prophecies they delivered?

5.Remember, we want to know God better at the end of this study. So after reading each weeks verses (this week is 1:1-12) take some time to note everything we learned about God. 

• What is He like?

• What has He done? What is He doing? What will He do?
•  What pleases Him? What displeases Him?
