Read chapter 44 for the following questions: 

1. Why does Joseph put the cup in Benjamin’s bag? Give your best guess.

2. When faced with the horrible possibility that his father’s favorite son would become a slave in 

    Egypt, knowing that the responsibility for the loss would lie with him, which brother pleads for 

    Benjamin’s life (44:16,18)?

     How is this significant? Look back at 37:26-27

3.What alternate solution does Judah offer to satisfy justice (44:32-34)?

4. By offering his own life in place of his brother, of which of his descendants does Judah 

    remind you? 

Now look at Chapter 45.

5. What is Joseph’s response to Judah’s impassioned plea for Benjamin (45:1-3)?

6. Joseph confesses his identity to his brothers and tells them he holds no ill will toward them. 

    In 45:5,7,8, what idea does he repeat three times to explain his present in Egypt?

7. In 45:24 what final instruction does Joseph give to his brothers? Why might it have been a 

    wise yet kind of comical statement?
