Background) Hebrews: Palestinian Jews that speak Aramaic from the area of
Palestine
Hellenistic: Greek speaking Jews from all over the empire
2. What complaint is brought by the Hellenistic? (6:1) The widows felt they were neglected in the distribution.
3. What type of person are the apostles looking for to meet the need in the
community? 7 men of good reputation and full of the Holy Ghost.
3. According to 6:7, what happened to the Church as a result of the solution to widow
care? The word of God read, even the priests of the temple were being converted.
4. In 6:8, how is Stephen described? Full of faith and power, also he is later described as being full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom.
5. Look up the word “blasphemy” in a dictionary or thesaurus and write a definition for
it that best first the way it is used in 6:11-14.
Apply: Though accused of blasphemy, Stephen’s “sin” is being full of the Spirit. Have
you ever been accused for being righteous.
