Proverbs Lesson 6 Collected Sayings Chapters 10-30
Lesson 6
Collected Sayings
As you read chapters 10-30 this week, you will mark five major themes: speech, money, relationships, emotions, and virtue. This is not an exhaustive list of the themes we could highlight—feel free to mark other themes you notice! For the purpose of this study, we will focus on these five. Also, underline every time the “fear of the Lord” is mentioned. We will discuss this further when we meet.
Proverbs about Speech—Red
Ex. The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouths of fools pour out folly. (Proverbs 15:2)
Proverbs about Money—Green
Ex. A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich. (Proverbs 10:4)
Proverbs about Relationships—Blue
Ex. Oil and perfume make the heart glad, and the sweetness of a friend comes from his earnest counsel. (Proverbs 27:9)
Proverbs about Emotions—Yellow
Ex. A hot-tempered man stirs up strife, but he who is slow to anger quiets contention. (Proverbs 15:18)
Proverbs about Virtue—Orange
(Laziness, diligence, humility, pride, integrity, self-control, etc.)
Ex. The desire of the sluggard kills him,
For his hands refuse to labor.
All day long he craves and craves,
But the righteous gives and does not hold back. (Proverbs 21:25-26)
